Metals
Metals is a course designed to enable students to create original works of art that are sculptural, functional, and decorative. The focus of the course is to assist students in applying the elements and principles of fine art and design to their own metal artwork. Some of the metal objects students will create during the course of the year are: belt buckles, boxes, rings, candlesticks, and cast sculptures. In addition to making works of art, students will be expected to build a strong art vocabulary, participate in critiques and discussions, research historically significant glass objects, movements or techniques, and respond to a variety of inquires related to the curriculum. One of the most important goals of the course is to instill a sense of pride and accomplishment in young artists. Course Length: Year Long. Open to Grades: 10, 11, 12. Prerequisites: None.
