College & University Counseling

Betty Van Wagenen Ms. Van Wagenen

College admission is both an exhilarating and a stressful time. The Priory tries to create a positive experience by offering thorough support and starting early. The goal is for students to have good choices and be excited about them. Students and parents have access to a full-time, highly trained college counselor and a complete range of multi-media informational resources in the counseling office.

Mrs. Betty Van Wagenen, Director of College Counseling, meets with parents as a group in the students' freshman and sophomore years. Students meet individually and in small groups with the director several times over the next two years as they become familiar with the admissions process, narrow their choices, arrange documentation, and, finally, fill out the applications and support each other while they await the envelopes. Mrs. Van Wagenen is a dedicated advocate for her students. She is indefatigable in helping each individual find and be accepted at schools that will be for them, a great launch into young adult life.
